AzureLayer started as an internal tool at a consultancy where every engineer billed hours into Azure DevOps — and every engineer dreaded it.
In 2025, our team of forty engineers shipped software for enterprise clients who all standardized on Azure DevOps. The platform did everything — and demanded everything. Logging an hour of work took eleven clicks. Updating a story meant six tabs. Every Friday, managers sent the same message: “please update your work items before EOD.”
So we built a layer. A single clean screen that pulled everything in through a PAT token, let us update items and log hours in seconds, and quietly wrote it all back. Then we added AI to draft the subtasks and write the Friday report nobody wanted to write.
The Friday messages stopped. Other teams asked for access. AzureLayer is that tool, rebuilt for everyone.
